Terms of Service
Effective 28 October 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and BengalStack, Dhaka, Bangladesh ("we", "us"), which runs Be Social: the website besocial.bd and the Be Social app. By creating an account or using Be Social you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy (besocial.bd/privacy) explains how we handle your information, and our child safety standards are at besocial.bd/child-safety.
Questions about these Terms: info@besocial.bd.
1. Who can use Be Social
- Age: Be Social is for people aged 18 and over. You must be at least 18 to create or use an account. Accounts found to belong to anyone younger are removed.
- Connected to Bangladesh: Be Social is currently only for people connected to Bangladesh — by birth, nationality, ethnicity, or ancestry or descent. We ask when you sign up; no documents are needed. If you are not connected to Bangladesh, you cannot create an account.
- Signing up: you join with a mobile number or an email address and confirm it with a one-time code. During invite-only periods you also need an invite code.
- Real and accurate: give accurate information about yourself, and do not create an account for someone else or pretend to be someone else.
- Your account is yours to protect: keep your password and sign-in codes private, and tell us at info@besocial.bd if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Who may not use it: you may not use Be Social if we have banned you, or if the law of Bangladesh does not allow you to. While you are banned you may not open another account: a new account with your mobile number or NID is refused, and one whose profile photo matches your face is held for our staff to review.
2. Profiles and Pages
Your profile is your personal account. You can also create Pages for a shop, brand, public figure, creator, news or media outlet, organisation, community and similar uses, up to 25 Pages per person.
- Roles: a Page has an owner, and may have admins and editors. The owner can add admins and editors; admins can add editors. Admins can change the Page details; editors can post as the Page but cannot change its name, photos or privacy.
- Switching to a Page: when you switch from your profile to a Page, what you post, comment and send is shown as coming from the Page. You remain responsible for it. A Page cannot sign in by itself, and some actions (changing a password, two-step verification, deactivating or deleting, verification requests, friend requests and downloading your information) only work from your own profile.
- Leaving a Page: the owner cannot leave a Page; they must hand ownership to someone else or delete the Page.
3. Your content and who sees it
You keep ownership of everything you post. You choose who sees each post:
- Public — anyone, including people who are not signed in.
- Followers — people who follow you. This is the starting choice unless you change it in Settings.
- Friends — your friends.
- Friends except… — your friends, minus the people you pick.
- Specific friends — only the friends you pick.
- Only me — just you.
Stories can be Public, Followers, Friends or Only me, and disappear after 6, 12 or 24 hours. Reels (Clips & Shorts) can be seen by everyone, except people you have blocked and, if your profile is locked, people who are not your friends. A live broadcast is a post, so its audience works like a post. A replay of your live video is saved on the post unless you turn "Save the replay" off, and you can delete it at any time.
Your name, username and profile photo are always public. Public posts, public profiles of Pages and verified accounts, and public song pages can appear in search engines.
4. The permission you give us for your content
To run Be Social we need your permission to handle what you post. You give BengalStack a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, copy, process (for example resize photos, convert videos and audio, and create previews), display and deliver your content to the audience you choose, and to use it to operate, protect and improve Be Social. We do not sell your content.
This licence ends when your content or account is deleted, except for copies that others keep in their own conversations or comment threads, content we must keep by law or to deal with a report, and backup copies, which are overwritten over time.
5. What you may not do
These rules apply everywhere on Be Social: posts, photos, videos, reels, stories, live broadcasts (including broadcasts sent from streaming software such as OBS), comments, messages, calls, Pages, listings, jobs and events. Do not post, send or broadcast:
- Spam and scams — repetitive or misleading content, fake giveaways, phishing, or tricks to get money or passwords.
- Harassment and hate — bullying, threats, or attacks on people for who they are, including their religion, ethnicity, gender or disability.
- Violence — threats, content that encourages violence or self-harm, and graphic content shared to shock.
- Harmful misinformation — false information likely to cause real harm.
- Nudity and sexual content — including immodest photos and videos. Every upload is checked automatically before it is published (section 12).
- Child sexual exploitation — any sexual content involving anyone under 18. We have zero tolerance: such accounts are banned permanently and reported to the authorities (besocial.bd/child-safety).
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, Page or organisation.
- Illegal goods and services — including drugs, weapons and anything else the law of Bangladesh forbids.
- Other people's rights — content you do not have the right to share, including copyrighted music and video, and other people's private information.
- Attacks on Be Social — malware, hacking, scraping, automated accounts, fake accounts, or getting around a block, a limit or an enforcement action.
Calls are not recorded by Be Social. Do not record other people in a call or a live broadcast without their permission where the law requires it.
Some limits apply: a post can have up to 5,000 characters, a comment up to 2,000, a message up to 4,000; posted videos are up to 45 seconds (longer videos up to 5 minutes can be trimmed in the editor); a live broadcast can last up to 8 hours. Going live from streaming software is available to verified accounts.
6. Copyright and Content ID
Only upload music, video and other material that you own or have permission to share. Be Social checks every new song upload, and the sound of every new video and audio post and reel, against the songs in Be Social Music that their owners protect. This is called Content ID.
- What counts as a match: at least 40% of the shorter recording, and at least 10 seconds, matches a protected song. Recordings shorter than 10 seconds are not checked.
- What happens: a matching upload is removed at once. A matching song is deleted; a matching video or audio post is deleted, a matching reel is removed and a matching live replay is deleted. You get a notice in the app.
- Appeals: you can appeal from the Copyright page (besocial.bd/copyright, or Copyright in the app). The song's owner answers first and has 7 days to release the claim or uphold it. If they uphold it or do not answer, the Be Social team decides. If your appeal succeeds you may upload your video again; the removed upload is not restored.
- Owners: a song owner can turn protection off for any of their songs.
- Repeat infringement: we may restrict, suspend or close accounts that repeatedly upload material that infringes other people's rights.
If you believe something on Be Social infringes your copyright and Content ID did not catch it, write to info@besocial.bd with a link to the content and proof of your rights.
7. Be Social Music
- Who can upload: verified people and verified Pages. Each song can be from 3 seconds to 15 minutes long, up to 200 MB, and an account can upload up to 20 songs a day.
- Your promise as an uploader: you confirm you hold the rights to the song and its cover art and may share them on Be Social. Your song is listed in Music for everyone and can be played, liked, added to playlists, shared in messages and chosen as a profile song. While your account is verified, your song also has a public page that anyone can open from a link.
- Listeners: you may stream songs on Be Social for your own personal, non-commercial listening. The Android app can save songs for offline listening inside the app; these copies stay in the app and are removed when you sign out. The website has no download. Do not copy, record, re-upload or sell songs from Be Social.
- Visitors who are not signed in can listen to one song free every 24 hours on the website. Creating a free account opens the rest of Music.
8. Profile songs and Page songs
- Any Page, and any verified person, can choose a song from Be Social Music to play when someone opens their profile or Page.
- Uploading your own custom audio for this is only for verified people and verified Pages. Custom audio is unlisted: it does not appear in Music, search, playlists or sharing, and it only plays as that account's song, only while the account stays verified. It must be at least 15 seconds long, and a part of 15 to 60 seconds plays.
- Anyone can turn profile songs off for themselves in Settings.
9. Verification
You can ask for the blue verified badge in Settings — for yourself, or for a Page you own or administer, while using it — with an optional note about who you are and how we could check. The Be Social team decides each request; there is no fixed list of requirements. The badge shows that we believe the account is who it says it is; it is not an endorsement. We may remove a badge, and tell you why, for example if the account changes its identity or breaks these Terms. Some features are only for verified accounts: uploading music, custom profile audio, going live from streaming software and posting jobs.
10. Haat-Bazaar, Jobs and Events
- Haat-Bazaar: Be Social only lets buyers and sellers find each other. We are not a party to any sale: we do not handle payment or delivery, and we do not check items, prices or sellers. The buyer and seller are responsible for the deal and for following the law. Do not list illegal or forbidden items. Meet in a public place and inspect an item before you pay.
- Jobs: jobs can be posted by verified accounts. The publisher is responsible for the job being real and lawful. When you apply, the information you send is shared with the publisher.
- Events: the organiser is responsible for the event and what it says about it.
11. Safety tools and reporting
You can block, mute or restrict people, hide comments and messages that contain words you choose, and decide who can message you; first messages from people you are not connected to arrive as message requests. You can report a profile, post, comment or message from its ⋯ menu as spam or scams, harassment or hate, misinformation, violence or graphic content, or something else. Our team reviews reports. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
12. When we take action
If you break these Terms we may, depending on how serious it is: warn you; remove content; turn off comments on a post; stop you posting, commenting, messaging or uploading for a time; suspend your account for a set time or until further notice; ban your account permanently; or delete it. Suspension and bans sign you out everywhere. Child sexual exploitation leads to a permanent ban and a report to the authorities.
Automatic checks: a photo or video our nudity check flags is not published and goes to our staff; if they confirm it, the account is banned until it is unbanned. An account that shows strong signs of being fake, or whose profile photo matches the face of a banned account, may be held — it can read, but cannot post or message — until our staff review it. Unbanning an account also lifts the block on its mobile number, NID and face.
You can see actions taken on your account in the app and appeal within 30 days, except actions taken for child safety. This includes a blocked upload, an account held for review and a ban; you can also write to info@besocial.bd. An appeal can be upheld, changed or overturned; if it is overturned we restore your content or account.
13. Deactivating and deleting your account
- Deleted posts: a post you delete, or move to Trash in your Activity log, disappears for everyone at once and is kept for up to 3 days for safety review (you can restore it from Trash during that time), then permanently removed with its comments, reactions and photos and videos.
- Deactivate: with your password, in Settings. Your profile and content are hidden and you are signed out; nothing is deleted. Come back any time at besocial.bd/reactivate.
- Delete: in Settings or at besocial.bd/delete-account. Your account is switched off at once and deleted after 30 days. To change your mind within the 30 days, reactivate your account at besocial.bd/reactivate: that cancels the deletion.
- What stays: messages you sent and comments you left on other people's posts stay in those conversations and threads, shown as "Deleted account". A Page you own passes to its longest-serving admin, or is deleted with your account if nobody else manages it. Records of reports and rule enforcement are kept for safety.
We may also close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or if the law requires it.
14. Changes to Be Social
Be Social is free to join, and we keep improving it, so features may be added, changed or removed. We try to keep Be Social available and safe, but we cannot promise it will always work without interruption or errors.
15. Disclaimers and limits on our responsibility
Be Social is provided "as is". What people post, sell, offer or say on Be Social is their own responsibility, not ours, and we do not guarantee that it is accurate or safe. As far as the law of Bangladesh allows, we are not responsible for losses that are indirect or that you could not have expected, for anything that happens in deals between users, or for loss of data, profit or business. Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it, if any. Nothing in these Terms limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these Terms, you agree to help us deal with it and to cover the costs you caused, as far as the law allows.
16. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. If a dispute cannot be settled by talking to us first at info@besocial.bd, the courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh, will decide it.
17. Changes to these Terms
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date and tell you in the app about important ones. If you keep using Be Social after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
